Charismatic Prayer Group
St. Mary's University
San Antonio, Texas

Our PRAYER GROUP meets in the Assumption
Chapel in the Reinbolt building on Fridays at 7:30 PM. We sing praises,
we give thanks and we worship our Lord as a prayerful community of
believers. We share our experience, strength and hope with each other.
We pray with each other for healings and personal needs. We also have
teachings on the Bible and the Charismatic Gifts. If the chapel is
available at 7 PM, the Rosary is prayed by those who wish to participate.
Formation of the "Community of My Beloved "
Who are we?
Community Of My Beloved (C.O.M.B.) was founded over 35 years ago as a lay Roman Catholic Charismatic prayer group at St. Mary's University and under the direction of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas.
In August of 1970, the first meeting of prayer group is held, this was the first Charismatic prayer group in South Texas.
In February 1971, the group has its first “Life in the Spirit Seminar”.
The prayer group is named “The Community of My Beloved” in September of 1971.
In the early to mid 70’s the group met in Ursuline Academy Girls School before returning to St. Mary’s University’s Guadalupe Chapel in the Treadaway Hall building.
The C. O. M. B. prayer group now meets in the St. Mary’s University’s Assumption Chapel located in Reinbolt Hall.

Faithful to Church Teaching:
As the early Church was profoundly charismatic and under the authority of the Apostles, we too place ourselves under the authority of their successors and pledge fidelity to the Pope and the teaching authority of the Church.

Why a Community?
Only a community can embody the message of Jesus and the transforming power of God's love. Jesus said, "Where two or three gather in my name, there I am in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:20) . "By this will all people know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:35). Disciples who work as a team multiply their effectiveness.
